SUMMARY:Advanced Strategies for Investigative Interviewing
DESCRIPTION:This is a very valuable 3 day course. Held one day per week. \n\n\n\nAre you required to conduct interviews with stakeholders\, licensees\, witnesses\, victims or accused persons? Interviewing entails a host of skills that need to be honed consistently. Our science-based learning modules enhance the efficacy of our approach and help participants improve their abilities. Our model is in line with recent UN recommendations and Canadian laws. \n\n\n\nThe Advanced Investigative Interviewing course will help participants develop legal and ethical interviewing strategies while using evidence-based approaches to generate the maximum amount of accurate information from interviewees. A modern\, four-step model is the foundation that helps participants develop effective interview or interrogation strategies through a host of scenarios and Interview Scrums. \n\n\n\nWHO: Are you required to conduct interviews with stakeholders\, licensees\, witnesses\, victims or accused persons? This course is for anyone conducting interviews including regulatory investigators\, inspectors\, regulators\, by-law\, security\, clearance officers\, intelligence officers\, police officers or human resources. \n\n\n\nGOAL: Refine and accelerate interviewing skills through evidence-based training and a model that includes the following key learning competencies/skill enhancements: \n\n\n\n\nInterview strategies\n\n\n\nBuilding rapport\n\n\n\nFree narrative\n\n\n\nQuestion strategies\n\n\n\nMemory enhancement\n\n\n\nSelf-assessments & profiles\n\n\n\nSkillsets & challenges\n\n\n\nPractical scenarios & interview scrums\n\n\n\nHuman behaviour\n\n\n\nLegal implications\n\n\n\nRecording the interview\n\n\n\nAssess veracity of information\n\n\n\nArticulation of the model.\n\n\n\n\nThis is a VIRTUAL offering with the program instructed over three days occurring on October 21\, 28 & November 4\, 2026. DESCRIPTION:Learn and practice skills and strategies for successful interviewing in a regulatory and enforcement environment. \n\n\n\nAll Regulatory personnel need to speak with people to be successful in their role. This one day course has been developed for staff in any regulatory role\, whether or not it is an administrative or a field based assignment. Participants will be able to develop their skill sets in conducting an interviews\, and understanding the responsibilities\, categories\, and strategies needed to become a successful interviewer. \n\n\n\nThe students will also be able to reflect on various interviewing strategies and how to shift between them. \n\n\n\nThe main objectives include: Discuss the Interviewers mindset; Controlling the Interview; Interviewing responsibly; Categories of interview subjects; Communication Strategies; Virtual Interviewing; Signs of possible deception; Practical exercises \n\n\n\nThis session is being offered virtually.
